Tosyalı-SULB Builds Bridges Between Research and Industry

Tosyali-SULB recently participated in the First International Conference on Structural Safety and Sustainability at Balagrae University, where the company was recognized for its support to engineering research in Libya. 

The company was an official sponsor of the event. The conference was about what is important for both researchers and businesses working in the construction sector, and it is how to make buildings and infrastructure safer, more durable and better prepared for environmental threats. 

Tosyali-SULB presented its work in the iron and steel sector at the event, including a video of the technologies and production processes of the project near Benghazi. It was a chance to show the project to the engineering and construction sector and to demonstrate how the company intends to employ modern steelmaking technology. 

The conference also covered a number of questions faced by engineers in their day-to-day work. They included the effect of environmental conditions on buildings, the assessment of the stability of foundations and buildings under water, and the use of new materials to improve the quality of constructions. 

Another topic that was discussed during the conference was Libya’s construction standards. The conversations were mostly on how research and engineering could help improve those standards and make infrastructure safer. 

Moreover, Tosyali-SULB had an opportunity to network with universities and researchers. Universities are focused on education and research, but companies like Tosyali-SULB can offer experience from the real industrial projects they have undertaken. Events like this bring both sides together, give them a chance to learn from each other and exchange ideas. And maybe, can even help bridge the gap between what we study at the universities and the problems that companies are facing in practice. It also lays the foundation for future cooperation between education and industry in Libya.
