New Equipment Arrives. Construction Progress at Benghazi Steel Project

Construction continues to move forward at the Tosyali-SULB Direct Reduced Iron (DRI)complex in Benghazi. One of the latest developments was the arrival of the Top Gas Scrubber, which is a key piece of equipment that will be installed as part of the plant's reduction furnace. Once the process of installation is completed, it will cool and clean process gases, helping improve the efficiency of the DRI production process. Because of its size, the unit was transported to the site under a coordinated operation involving traffic police and emergency services.
Construction teams are also continuing to work on the 220 kV substation, where concrete is being poured for the foundations that will support the site's future power infrastructure. Not only new technical equipment was delivered, but also oxygen tanks have arrived and work on the utility systems is continued.
Elsewhere on site, structural steel installation is progressing in the Reduction Area, Reformer Area and Gas Compressor Building. While piling and concrete works are continuing in the Cooling Tower area, and masonry work is underway on the services building.
The latest update shows steady progress across the project, concrete works had reached 64 percent completion, backfilling stood at 63 percent and structural steel installation had reached 20 percent, with work continuing across multiple sections of the future steel complex.
