Benghazi Steel Project Reaches New Stage of Construction

Construction continues across the Tosyali SULB Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) complexin Benghazi, with steady progress being made on the project's foundations, main facilitiesand supporting infrastructure.
Foundation work is now close to completion, with 1,521 of the planned 1,550 piles inplace. Concrete works have reached 64.36 percent completion, while backfilling has progressed to 63.84 percent. Crews have also completed piling in the Cooling Tower area and are continuing foundation work in the Pipe Rack, Clarifier Area and Air Separation Unit. Reinforcement work is also underway on the CDRI Passivation Silos.
Elsewhere on site, work is moving ahead on several of the project's main buildings. Structural steel installation has reached 19.72 percent, with teams assembling beams, columns and roof supports in the Reduction Area and Reformer Area. Cladding is also being installed on the CDRI Warehouse, while masonry work continues in the Control Room, Main Control Building, Maintenance Building and the 220 kV Switchgear Building.
The project remains active across the site, with more than 260 engineers, technicians and construction workers carrying out work each day. Heavy equipment is being used throughout the complex to support excavation, material transport, lifting operations and structural installation as construction continues to progress.
