Technical Testing Begins Ahead of Hawari’s Second Production Line Start-Up
The second production line at the Hawari Cement Plant has entered a more technical stage of work. With a lot of the preparation work done, the focus is now on testing the equipment and ensuring the various systems are ready before the line is commissioned.
A new clinker cooler is now in use on the line and the team is collaborating with LCC’s maintenance crew and the electrical contractor to test out the equipment and prepare it for operation.
Much of their work is with the cooler’s PLC, the control system that will operate the equipment. Specialists are programming and tuning the system, and simultaneously conducting mechanical inspections to verify that the cooler is functioning properly.
This is a different sort of progress from the construction work that has been going on at Hawari in the last few months. Not as much to see from the outside, but testing equipment, checking systems and making final adjustments are all part of getting the line ready to actually run.
There was other news from LCC this week too. The company received the Benghazi Scouts Commission award for its support of Cub Scout and Rover Scout leaders participating in events in Egypt in 2026. Osama Al-Qamati and Sami Bin Dardaf, Representatives of the Parliament, visited LCC and presented honorary shields to show their support.
The company also confirmed that it provided medical insurance coverage to all its employees through the Al Waha Insurance Company. The scheme provides employees with access to health care services as set out in the agreed coverage and is part of LCC’s wider initiative to enhance the support and benefits available to its workforce and their families.
Now the Hawari team just needs to get the details right. Before the second production line can be put into operation, the clinker cooler has to be checked, its control system set up correctly and the remaining technical work finished. That preparation is underway in earnest and the Fons specialists are now working with the teams at the plant.
