Work progress at the Benghazi Steel Complex

Work has continued to progress at the Tosyali-SULB steel complex in Benghazi, construction teams making huge progress across several important parts of the project over the past week.
While foundation work across the site has continued to move forward at a steady pace, concrete piling has now exceeded 92 percent completion. Meanwhile, concrete work is still moving forward and structural steel is slowly being put in place across various parts of the complex.
Moreover, crews have recently finished wall casting in the Air Separation Unit, while also making progress on beam and roof slabs. Also they have continued installing structural steel and piping in both the ironmaking area and the product warehouse. The teams were also working on the plant's service facilities, with engineering teams working closely with site crews to make sure everything was done safely and according to plan, so that the largest steel complex in Benghazi can start working and suplying the product not only inside Libya, but worldwide.
The project also received several important equipment deliveries during this period. These included heavy structural components, specialised mechanical equipment, oxygen and liquid nitrogen storage tanks for the Air Separation Unit and transformers for the 220kV electrical substation.
Behind every update there are teams of people working on the project each day. More than 260 engineers inspections were done to help ensure that each stage is completed safely and to the required standards. Although much of the work taking place now happens behind the scenes, each completed stage helps prepare the project for the next.
