Preparing for What's Next at Zulfa

Zulfa Project

Now, work at the Zulfa Food Industries factory is entering its next phase. The whole site is still under construction but most recent work has been focused on the planning and co-ordination required before equipment can begin to be installed. This is the kind of work that often happens behind the scenes, but it’s a big part of ensuring that everything comes together correctly once the installation process begins.

Representatives from Tetra Pak Egypt and SIA Solutions visited the factory to review this progress, together with Zulfa’s General Manager, company engineers, project consultants and contractors working across the site. The visit was an opportunity for everyone to walk through the project together, see how the work is progressing and discuss what work remains to be completed before the next phase can begin.

Teams considered utility, food-grade and process piping systems, discussed where to place factory equipment, and worked through practical details that help prevent problems down the line. When different engineering disciplines are involved in the same project, then the conversations are just as important as the actual construction.

Engineers also looked at technical details of drainage and insulation systems, routing of electrical cables and the best way to move equipment and storage tanks into the facility. Meanwhile, separate project teams continue to coordinate their work so that civil, mechanical, electrical and piping work all move forward.

This is the way projects like this get made, one decision at a time. Every change now, every drawing checked, every discussion between teams prevents delays later and keeps the project moving in the right direction. They may not be as obvious as watching new buildings come up out of the ground, but these stages are an important part of getting the factory ready for the work to come.

The latest technical meetings are behind us and now it’s a matter of putting those plans into action. As preparations progress, the Zulfa factory is one step closer to equipment installation and ultimately, becoming a fully operational food production facility that will support Libya’s growing food industry.
