The Next Chapter in Benghazi's Largest Industrial Project
The Tosyali SULB steel complex in Benghazi is progressing steadily with the completion of one of the first and most important phases of the project. This week teams from the site confirmed that all piling work is complete which allowed them to focus on the next stages of development across a number of areas of the site.
With foundations complete, work has moved more towards concrete works, structural steel installation and continuing development of key operational buildings. Work in the Heat Recovery Area has recently finished. Foundation and beam concrete works have also been completed in the ASU Compressor room. Meanwhile, teams continue their reinforcement and formwork activities at the Pipe Rack, Raw Water Area, CDRI Passivation Silos, Main Compressor Building and Dust Collector F73.
The project is also becoming more visible above ground as steel columns and beams are being installed throughout the Reduction Area and the Storage Facilities. The reports also show how much work is being done each day. On site, there are more than 260 engineers, technicians, contractors and support staff, and they are supported by a large fleet of heavy construction equipment. Multiple sections of the project are being worked on simultaneously.
Work on the Benghazi steel complex will continue and it will be one of the most important industrial projects in Libya. Completion of each phase brings the country one step closer to a project expected to boost the country’s industrial sector and open the door to future economic growth and job creation.
