Transformer Energization Marks New Progress at Hawari 2

The rehabilitation of the Hawari 2 production line at the Benghazi Cement Plant has taken another important step after the completion of the preparations required to energize the electrical transformer of the line. It may not be the most visible part of the project, but it’s one of the key steps to prepare the production line for start-up again.
The work was carried out by the plant’s Emergency and Safety Team and electrical maintenance engineers and technicians. The team spent the week inspecting the transformer, testing related equipment and ensuring the electrical system was ready in advance of the energization process. All connections and circuits were thoroughly checked out to ensure that the job could be performed safely and in accordance with plant operating procedures.
The transformer is only one component of the overall rehabilitation of Hawari 2, a production line that has been undergoing extensive maintenance and restoration work before it returns to service.
The renovation and maintenance of the administrative building at the Al-Fataih Cement Plant, along with Works at Hawari 2 are also at an advanced stage. The refurbishment is part of the company's wider programme of modernising its facilities and is aimed at improving the condition of the building, extending its service life and providing a safer and more comfortable working environment for staff.
