From Finished Buildings to Green Spaces. Zulfa Hotel Moves Toward Handover

The Engineers’ Building and VIP Building are now completed and being prepared for handover. That’s a huge change from earlier phases of the project, when the emphasis was mostly on constructing the buildings themselves.
The rooms and main building work in the Workers’ Building is completed, the lighting is in and the camera and surveillance systems are installed. And the dining facilities are set as well. Teams are finishing the bathrooms and working out the final details on the inside.
A lot is going on in the communal spaces too. Work is underway in the Workers’ and Engineers’ dining halls and the cafe is now ready to move on to the next phase of fitting out its equipment. The games rooms, meeting hall and other recreational areas are also close to completion.
The changes aren’t just within the hotel. Work has been shifted to the surrounding areas where roads and paved areas are being made for the landscaping and green areas. The area around the buildings is being levelled and tidied up with more consideration being given to how the hotel is going to look and feel when it is all complete.
And in the meantime, some of the most important work is being done where no one will really see it. Preparation is under way for underground cable routes linking the hotel with the Factory Substation. That link may not be the most obvious part of the project but it will connect the hotel into the main power and utility systems servicing the wider Zulfa site.
Which is what makes this stage interesting. The main work gives way to the details that make a hotel usable. The lights are in. Utilities are being tied in. Roads, green spaces. And some buildings are already ready to be handed over.
There’s still work to do, especially around the remaining facilities, outdoor spaces and infrastructure. But the hotel is clearly moving into a different type of work now, with much of the emphasis on cleaning, fit-out and final finishing.
Behind the finished spaces the construction site gradually melts away. And that might be the clearest sign of progress at the Zulfa Hotel. It’s easier to imagine people actually staying here, eating in the dining areas, using the common spaces and strolling the grounds once the doors open.
