Zulfa Moves Toward Production as Factory Systems Come Together and International Attention Grows

Things are beginning to change at Zulfa. You can see that change inside the main factory. Wall insulation and floor prep is complete and they’re now working on infrastructure and plumbing. These are quieter stages of construction but they are also a good indication of how far the project has come. The structure is pretty much there, now it’s a matter of what goes inside it.
The electrical work is the same, too. The four low voltage distribution panels are here and ready for installation and connection to the transformers. Work around the substation is continuing, with more equipment still to arrive before connections and testing can begin. Meanwhile, other parts of the site are getting closer to completion. Roof insulation and plumbing are done in the General Administration Building and much of the central air conditioning system is in place and tiling is ongoing.
The warehouses are also progressing. The floor preparation at the Finished Product Warehouse is almost complete. The Raw Material Warehouses are being prepared for levelling and plumbing. Teams in all the Main Warehouses are doing insulation and plastering and preparing the remaining spaces for the next stage.
A recent article in Business Insider Africa looked at the infrastructure Africa needs to improve food security, particularly the facilities needed to process, package, store and distribute food locally. Zulfa was an example of private investment in Libya’s food processing capacity in that conversation.
It’s understandable that connection when you look at what is being built at Zulfa today. A food factory is more than just a production line. It requires reliable power, warehouses, processing facilities, packaging systems and the infrastructure around them. The majority of the work being done across the site now is assembling those pieces.
Zulfa has also begun to receive more international media coverage. A CNBC rep was on site recently, touring the development and seeing the work up close.
Buildings which only a short time ago were in the course of formation are moving into finishing work. The equipment is coming in. Getting utilities ready. The work inside the factory is becoming more and more technical.
